Known as the Kalamkari of Gujarat, ‘Mata-ni-Pachedi’ translates to “behind the Goddess.” It is said that the art originated centuries ago, when the Vaghari tribe was barred from entering temples, they created their own travelling shrines of the Mother Goddess they worshiped - Jogni Mata, Meldi Mata, Vishat Mata, Bahuchara Mata, Hadkai Mata and more.
