Himroo, the unsung weave of Maharashtra, was once described by Marco Polo as “the finest fabric of the Deccan.” Inspired by Persian floral and paisley motifs, and woven in silk, Himroo replicates the Banaras Kinkhwab fabric. It takes a weaver about 2-3 weeks to weave a handloom Himroo saree, creating with finesse, a light and luxurious satin base with buttery smooth texture, and no-zari silk thread-work designs.
