Banarasi Kora-cotton handloom saree

Kora silk (organza) handloom Banarasi saree with 'Konya' butti on pallu, 'Kadhuwa' borders and pallu in gold zari, and 'Sona-Roopa' (gold and silver) buttis on the saree. Cotton in the weft, lends a softness to the saree texture. 'Kadhuwa' is a laborious and time-consuming handloom weaving technique, where each motif is woven intricately on the warp base in zari or silk, using hand shuttles. As a result, the motifs appear raised ("khada hua"), like embroidery, and there are no floats on the reverse of the fabric.
